This painting was a real challenge, and nothing like I had attempted before. The client had seen my other work and wanted a fantasy space landscape, where she could lose herself in imagination. Working from an idea that is just in your brain, with no photograph or actual scene in front of you, made this a completely different experience for me as an artist. We calculated that a trip into space would have made the commission a bit too expensive. Both she and her husband were delighted with the result, and I may attempt something similar along this theme if I get the time.
