I have been a resident of Hampshire for all my life, and as I lived near the sea, and not excelling at other sports, I took up dinghy racing in my teens. Many years later after winning two championships, my increasing age was starting to tell and I retired from the competitive sailing scene.
No longer committed to endless travelling with the boat on the trailer, I now had the time to nurture my creative side. I started painting in watercolour and with encouragement from my wife who was now pleased I was spending more time at home, gradually made progress. I still remember the thrill when I sold my first picture. Now with over 190 originals sold in the UK, USA, Canada and Europe, I still get a buzz when a painting is sold, though you do become attached to them, and am sad to see them go. I tell my wife that she must not be sentimental over it. Obviously my love of the sea means that marine and coastal subjects feature significantly in my work. I am also fortunate to have some beautiful English countryside nearby to inspire me, and I try to capture the magic of this in my landscape paintings. Examples of some of my previous work can be seen on the Commissions and Previous Sales pages. I hope you enjoy the website and I look forward to your comments or enquiries about affordable art. |
